The BMW R12 was a sidecar motorcycle produced by BMW in the 1930s, primarily known for its military use during World War II. The R12 was equipped with an air-cooled 745 cc boxer engine producing approximately 18 hp. It featured a shaft drive, a four-speed transmission, and was the first motorcycle in the world to feature hydraulic telescopic forks on the front axle, which significantly improved ride comfort.
The R12 sidecar offered space for a passenger and was known for its robustness and versatility, making it highly valued by both civilian and military personnel. It was a particularly important component of the German Wehrmacht during World War II.
