The Hildebrand & Wolfmüller is the world's first mass-produced motorcycle. It was developed in Munich in 1894 by Heinrich and Wilhelm Hildebrand, together with Alois Wolfmüller. The motorcycle was powered by a water-cooled, two-cylinder, four-stroke engine with 1.5 hp, which could accelerate the vehicle to approximately 45 km/h. The drive system was unique: the pistons were directly connected to the rear wheel. Although the model was not very successful commercially, it laid the foundation for the development of the modern motorcycle and is now considered a milestone in automotive history.
